Two people were seriously injured on Thursday morning after a Toyota Coaster bus traveling from Huye to Kigali collided with a motorcycle along the Kigali–Huye highway in Kamonyi District.
The incident occurred at around 10:30 a.m. near Kamonyi market, a busy stretch of road frequently used by pedestrians. According to eyewitnesses, the motorcycle was joining the main road from a nearby trading center when the collision took place.
The injured — the motorcycle rider and a passenger on the bus — were rushed to Kamonyi District Hospital for medical treatment.
Traffic police responded promptly, securing the area and beginning an investigation. Preliminary reports suggest that overspeeding and reckless driving may have played a role in the crash.
The Rwanda National Police has once again reminded road users to respect traffic rules to prevent avoidable road accidents.
Meanwhile, residents of Kamonyi expressed concern and urged authorities to install more road safety features, including speed bumps and clearer signposts, to ensure the safety of pedestrians and drivers in the area.
