By Chief Editor | November 7, 2025

Ngoma District Mayor, Niyonagira Nathalie, has condemned a teacher suspected of stealing meals meant for students at GS Kibare Primary School in the Mugesera Sector. The mayor emphasized that anyone engaging in such acts must stop immediately, as there are legal consequences.

On Thursday, November 6, 2025, it was reported that a plate of cooked rice was found hidden by the teacher, Ntawera Marie Claire, intending to take it home. The sector’s education supervisor visited GS Kibare Primary School to investigate, following complaints from parents who said their children were not receiving meals.

The school headteacher confirmed that the food was hidden in the teacher’s cupboard while waiting for her to leave, and the teacher reportedly admitted that this was not the first time she had taken food home.

Mayor Nathalie said, “Those who engage in such acts must stop because there are laws that punish them.” She added, “There are people who are not honest, and others must stop because it is punishable by law.”

When asked about the parents’ complaints, Mugesera Sector Executive Secretary, Ndayisaba Steven, said he was recently appointed and was not yet fully aware of the situation, but assured that it would be followed up.

Mayor Nathalie noted that this is the second incident in Ngoma District where people have attempted to steal students’ meals. She stressed the importance of integrity, saying, “This must be condemned, and we will follow up because penalties exist. The RIB spokesperson recently spoke about this, and we coordinate with education committees to address it regularly.”
