Burera: Police seize 20 kilos of marijuana after crossing border

The man, who hails from Gakenke District, was arrested by police in Vumage Village, Murwa Cell, Kivuye Sector, Burera District, while they were on duty in Vumage Village, Murwa Cell, Kivuye Sector, Burera District.

  The Northern Province Police Spokesperson, Ignace Ngirabakunzi, says that the Police, in collaboration with other agencies, have made efforts in combating drugs that cross the border, mainly marijuana and kanyanga, especially since these are the drugs that are often seized in Burera District. He also reminds those involved in these evil activities to stop doing so because if they do not stop, they will be arrested. 

He said, “The Police are using a lot of energy to fight drugs, whether they come from outside the country or from within, which is why we advise those who are involved to stop because if they do not stop, they will be punished.” 

He continued, “Due to the effects we see from drugs, everyone should avoid and fight them. We should not see someone using drugs that are harmful to the mind of the person who uses them.”

Ignace Ngirabakunzi added, “If those who use them refuse, stay away from them, they will have a better life, and even those who want to sell them will lose customers (market), and this will lead to bankruptcy, so they will stop using them.”

The police emphasize that fighting drugs is not a one-sided affair but requires the efforts of everyone, those who use them to stop using the,m and those who have information about them to provide it so that they can be involved in their arrest.

The marijuana drugs that this man was arrested with are classified as serious drugs. The person who was arrested is detained at the Butaro Police Station to be prosecuted by the relevant authorities.
