The Rwanda National Police (RNP) is set to open a modern vehicle inspection center in Ndera as part of efforts to enhance road safety and reduce air pollution.
According to the RNP Spokesperson’s Office, starting November 15, 2025, a new state-of-the-art inspection facility located in Ndera Sector, Gasabo District, will begin operations. The center is designed to strengthen road safety measures and environmental protection through emission control.
The new facility will primarily inspect heavy trucks from 3.5 tons and above, as well as other vehicles required to undergo emission testing.
This development falls under a broader plan to bring vehicle inspection services closer to the public and ensure all vehicles meet the required safety and environmental standards before entering the road network.
Rwanda National Police emphasizes that the center will play a major role in reducing accidents caused by mechanical failures and minimizing harmful vehicle emissions, especially in Kigali and across the country, since the facility is intended to serve all Rwandans, not only Kigali residents.
The initiative aligns with national goals to promote sustainable transport and protect citizens from respiratory diseases caused by polluted air from vehicles.
The Ndera facility will complement existing inspection stations already operating in various districts including Huye, Musanze, Rubavu, Rusizi, and Ngoma.
This new center also supports other ongoing road safety measures such as installing speed enforcement cameras, carrying out safety awareness campaigns, and enforcing vehicle inspection regulations nationwide.
The opening of the Ndera Vehicle Inspection Center symbolizes the government’s firm commitment to ensuring safer, cleaner, and more efficient transportation while protecting the environment.
