MTN Rwanda has unveiled a new cybersecurity solution known as the MTN Anti-DDoS Solution, designed to help organizations detect and prevent cyberattacks—particularly Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks—which have increasingly targeted institutions relying on digital technology.
The launch event brought together MTN staff, representatives from financial institutions, and officials from the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA).
As more institutions adopt technology-based systems instead of traditional methods, the risks of cyber threats have grown significantly. The new Anti-DDoS system will provide protection and real-time monitoring to safeguard businesses, including banking, insurance, and corporate sectors, from disruptions caused by cyberattacks.
MTN Rwanda CEO, Ali Monzer, emphasized that the initiative aims to enhance customer confidence and support Rwanda’s national digital transformation agenda.
“We introduced this solution to help secure and sustain Rwanda’s technological growth,” he said. “We are committed to ensuring the financial sector and other businesses operate smoothly without cyber disruptions that compromise their systems.”
Kanamugire David, Director General of the NCSA, highlighted the importance of reliable cybersecurity tools for businesses experiencing rapid growth.
“Once a company expands and begins attracting more clients and financial activity, the first priority should be protecting its digital systems to maintain trust,” he noted.
He added that the Government of Rwanda continues to invest in strengthening cybersecurity as part of improving digital service delivery and maintaining national security.
