Two men have been arrested in Kabuga Village, Bitare Cell, Karama Sector in Kamonyi District for allegedly selling and distributing narcotic drugs. The operation, conducted on November 5, 2025, led to the seizure of 85 rolls of cannabis.
According to the Rwanda National Police (RNP) spokesperson in the Southern Province, CIP Hassan Kamanzi, the arrest followed credible information shared by residents who have increasingly embraced their role in crime prevention.
CIP Kamanzi stated that the suspects were immediately taken into custody and detained at the Kayenzi Police Station while the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) launched a full investigation into their alleged crimes. He added that the suspects will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He commended the public for their continued cooperation with law enforcement, emphasizing that timely reporting of crimes has played a crucial role in maintaining national security.
“Security is a shared responsibility,” he said, urging the community to remain vigilant and refrain from any unlawful activities, particularly drug trafficking and consumption.
CIP Kamanzi also warned that drugs pose serious health risks, especially to the youth, and reiterated that anyone found involved in such activities will face legal consequences without exception.
