Zacu TV acquires broadcast rights to ‘Gen-Z Comedy’

Zacu TV has finalized a major agreement to broadcast Gen-Z Comedy, a fast-growing stand-up show that features some of Rwanda’s most promising new comedians. The first episode is scheduled to air on November 14, 2025, at 5:30 p.m.

The show’s creator, Fally Merci, told IGIHE that the partnership represents a huge step forward for young performers seeking national exposure and career development.

“Zacu TV is a platform that will boost the visibility of our performers. It’s also a great opportunity for the channel because they are gaining one of Rwanda’s most consistent comedy shows,” he said. Fally did not disclose the financial details or duration of the agreement.

Gen-Z Comedy is held twice every month and has steadily built a strong following since its launch. The show was created to give young comedians a stage when opportunities were limited. It has since become one of the most-attended comedy events in the country, drawing in audiences eager for fresh voices and humor.

Misago Wilson, CEO of Zacu Entertainment, said the move reflects the channel’s commitment to strengthening the Rwandan entertainment industry by prioritizing locally-produced content.

“Our goal is to uplift Rwandan entertainment,” he said. “Bringing Gen-Z Comedy to television ensures more audiences can enjoy local comedic talent.”

The new deal not only brings youthful creativity to television but also marks another step in promoting home-grown talent within Rwanda’s expanding media sector.

Gen-Z Comedy will air every Friday on Zacu TV, beginning November 14.
