Trump to attend FIFA Club World Cup final

United States President Donald Trump has confirmed he will attend the final game of the FIFA Club World Cup, which will take place on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. This confirmation was made by Trump himself to reporters following a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, July 8.

This news comes one day after FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced the opening of the federation’s branch office at Trump Tower in New York, a move also noted by Sports Business Journal and AS USA. This temporary headquarters will host the trophy presentation throughout the Club World Cup until the final match is played, according to the Emirates News Agency.

“We have received significant support from the government and the President, and the White House task force for the World Cup is now also involved with the FIFA World Cup happening next year,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said, a statement.

The FIFA Club World Cup 2025, which began on June 14 and concludes on July 13, features 32 teams from different continents and is seen as a major test run for the expanded FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada in 2026. President Donald Trump told the Press, “I will attend the match.”

In February, Trump became the first United States president to attend a Super Bowl game, demonstrating his interest in sports.

The final match will take place at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, July 13. This stadium, home to the NFL’s New York Jets and Giants, has also been confirmed as the venue for the 2026 World Cup final.

In the final, Chelsea FC will face Paris Saint-Germain. Chelsea secured their spot by defeating Fluminense 2-0 in their semi-final match on July 8 at MetLife Stadium, with new signing João Pedro scoring both goals.

PSG, meanwhile, “humiliated” Real Madrid with a commanding 4-0 victory in their semi-final clash on July 9 at the same venue, with Fabian Ruiz scoring twice.

Paris Saint-Germain is a club in partnership with Rwanda through the “Visit Rwanda” campaign, a collaboration recently extended until 2028. This partnership also includes the “Visit Rwanda” logo appearing on the sleeve of the PSG men’s team shirt during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
