EL Ahli S.C. Wad Medani of Sudan, which had applied to participate in the 2025/2026 Rwanda Premier League, will not be joining the competition due to internal reasons.
The announcement was made Thursday morning by the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA), which stated: “For its own reasons, EL Ahli S.C Wad Medani, which recently applied to take part in the 2025-2026 Rwanda Premier League, will not participate in this year’s tournament.”
FERWAFA reassured fans that it will continue fostering strong partnerships with other clubs to support the development of football in Rwanda.
The decision comes after EL Ahli S.C Wad Medani revealed through its media that the club will conduct a 40-day training camp abroad, aimed at helping players maintain their competitive level.
EL Ahli S.C Wad Medani is one of three Sudanese clubs previously allowed to participate in the Rwanda Premier League due to disruptions in domestic football caused by security issues. The other two clubs, Al-Merrikh and Al Hilal Omdurman, are expected to compete in this season’s league.
