Rusine Patrick explores fatherhood in second one-man comedy show

Rwandan comedian Rusine Patrick will return to the stage on August 30, 2025, with his second solo show titled “Inkuru ya Rusine II: From Dude to Dad.” The performance is scheduled to take place at the Centre Culturel Francophone in Kigali.

This follows his 2022 debut, “Inkuru ya Rusine I,” which explored his upbringing, education, and early experiences with comedy. The first show was marked by its focus on personal stories from his childhood, delivered through a comedic lens.

With this new performance, Rusine shifts the narrative. He describes “Inkuru ya Rusine II” as a reflection on his journey into fatherhood and the responsibilities that have come with that transition. In an interview with InyaRwanda, he explained that while the first show revolved around entering the comedy scene and recounting childhood events, this second chapter will address what it means to grow into adulthood and become a parent.

“This is my second show,” he said. “It focuses on the journey of transitioning from youth to becoming a parent.”

The structure of the performance remains rooted in personal storytelling, but this time with an emphasis on change, growth, and everyday experiences in family life. Rather than presenting a polished or exaggerated image, Rusine aims to explore moments that are often overlooked or left out of public conversation, particularly among men and young fathers.

The event comes as part of his broader creative evolution, and it reflects a growing interest in using comedy not only to entertain but also to document lived experiences.

This performance is expected to build on the themes introduced in the first show while presenting new material based on Rusine’s current stage in life. It signals a more introspective direction in his storytelling, shaped by the personal changes he has undergone since becoming a father.
