Rubanguka retires from professional football

Steve Rubanguka, formerly playing for Al-Najoom Club in Saudi Arabia’s Second Division, announced via social media that he has retired from professional football.

The 29-year-old, who spent 11 years as a professional player, said his decision was not due to any negative reason but because he wants to pursue new opportunities.

“I have decided to end this chapter of my life. Not out of dislike, but because something new and positive has begun,” Rubanguka said.

He expressed gratitude to the football community for their support throughout his career and reflected on the valuable experiences football gave him:

“Football taught me discipline, patience, and other experiences I will never forget.”

Rubanguka also said he is proud to have represented his country and thanked his coaches, agents, and teammates across all the clubs he played for.

During his career, Rubanguka played for various teams across Asia and Europe.
