Rayon Sports sign Tunisian midfielder Mohamed Chelly on one-year deal

Rayon Sports Football Club has officially announced the signing of Tunisian midfielder Mohamed Chelly on a one-year contract, bolstering their squad ahead of the upcoming domestic and continental challenges.

Chelly, who previously played for Oceano Club de Kerkennah in the Tunisian second division, was reportedly convinced to join the Rwandan giants by newly appointed head coach Afhamia Lotfi. The 23-year-old midfielder arrived on Thursday morning at the club’s headquarters in Kicukiro, where he finalized the deal. While the specific details of his salary remain undisclosed, sources at the club confirmed that the agreement is valid for one season.

Several factors influenced Chelly’s decision to join Rayon Sports. The vibrant atmosphere created by the club’s passionate fanbase and the significant opportunity to feature in the CAF interclub competitions were major motivations for the young midfielder.

“Playing in a club with such passionate supporters and having the chance to compete at the continental level are dreams for every player,” Chelly reportedly said during his introduction.

The Tunisian international becomes part of the club’s broader rebuilding strategy under Coach Afhamia Lotfi. He joins other new signings, including Burundian midfielder Gloire Tambwe and Malian goalkeeper Drissa Kouyaté, as Rayon Sports prepares for the demanding season ahead.

Mohamed Chelly also brings valuable international experience, having represented Tunisia at the U23 level, where the national team is known as “Les Aigles de Carthage.”

Rayon Sports is expected to unveil more new signings in the coming days as they continue to bolster their squad for the upcoming season, aiming for success both domestically and on the African stage.
