Rayon Sports’ ambitious transfer activity signal intent to challenge

Rayon Sports Football Club, a perennial powerhouse in Rwandan football, is embarking on an exceptionally active summer transfer window, making a clear statement of intent for the upcoming 2025/26 season. After finishing second in the Rwanda Premier League last season, narrowly behind champions APR FC, the Blues are strategically bolstering their squad with a series of high-profile acquisitions and crucial contract renewals.

This aggressive recruitment drive, orchestrated under the leadership of President Thadée Twagirayezu, aims not only for domestic dominance but also a more significant impact in upcoming CAF competitions.

This Wednesday afternoon, Rayon Sports completed a significant coup with the signing of highly-rated Congolese forward Bingi Belo Chadrack on a two-year contract from DR Congo giants DC Motema Pembe.

The 20-year-old striker arrives in Rwanda with an impressive track record, having netted 23 goals across the last two seasons in the Linafoot league, earning him a reputation as one of DR Congo’s most promising attacking talents.

Beyond this marquee signing, Rayon Sports has systematically reinforced key areas across the pitch. The club has secured the services of Chris Rushema, a central defender from Mukura Victory Sports, on a two-year contract, adding solidity to the backline.

The midfield has been strengthened with the arrival of Gloire Tambwe from Burundian side Musongati FC, also on a two-year deal, and the Tunisian midfielder Muhammed Chelly, whose signing was confirmed in early July 2025.

These additions bring both defensive prowess and creative flair to the team’s engine room. Furthermore, Rayon Sports has ensured continuity by renewing the contracts of vital players. Rwandan right-back Serumogo Ally has extended his stay until June 2027, and prolific striker Biramahire Abeddy Christophe has also committed his future to the club until 2027, securing a crucial source of goals for the long term.

President Thadée Twagirayezu, speaking on the club’s ambitious transfer strategy, articulated the broader vision behind these moves. “Our objective is clear. To build a formidable team capable of competing at the highest level, both domestically and on the continent,” President Twagirayezu stated.

“These signings reflect our unwavering ambition and our dedication to bringing sustained success to our loyal fanbase. We are confident that these players will integrate seamlessly and contribute significantly to our goals for the upcoming season, as we aim to build on our history, which includes reaching the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup in 2018.”

This strategic overhaul of the squad positions Rayon Sports as a formidable contender for the 2025/26 season. With a blend of promising new talent, experienced reinforcements, and retained key players, the club is signaling its strong determination to challenge for the league title and make a deeper impression in African club competitions, much to the anticipation of its passionate fanbase.
