On November 4, 2025, in Doha, President Paul Kagame met with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on the sidelines of the Second World Summit for Social Development.
The leaders discussed the growing bilateral relations between Rwanda and Qatar, covering economic cooperation, aviation, and social development. Both emphasized the importance of using this partnership to drive economic growth and achieve shared development goals.
A key focus of the talks was regional security and stability, particularly ongoing peace efforts in the Great Lakes Region and between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. President Kagame acknowledged Qatar’s mediation role in past negotiations, including the Washington Accord, and expressed appreciation for its continued support.
The meeting highlighted the leaders’ commitment to multilateralism, sustainable development, and strategic cooperation to promote stability, economic progress, and peace in the region.
