On 24 September 2025, Rwanda’s women cricket stars departed for Malaysia to participate in the Malaysian Superwomen Series 2025.
Among the five shining representatives is Gisele Ishimwe, a student at Mount Kigali University. She is joined by Alice Ikuzwe, Marie Diane Bimenyimana, Therese Henriette Ishimwe, and Umutoniwase Clarisse.
Gisele, who plays as a batter for Indatwa Hampshire Cricket Club and the Rwanda Women’s National Cricket Team, began her cricket journey in 2016 and earned her spot on the national team just three years later. In Malaysia, she is featuring for North Queens in the Superwomen Series.
In 2023, Gisele achieved a remarkable milestone during the ICC World Cup Qualifiers against Uganda, when she reached 1,000 runs in T20 Internationals in just 62 matches.
Gisele and her teammates are scheduled to return to Kigali on 3 October 2025.
As of the latest ICC T20 rankings, Malaysia is placed 25th out of 89 countries, with a rating of 125.
