Miss Belgium 2024 Inspires Mount Kigali University Film Students in blended Workshop

In an engaging virtual session via Google Meet, Miss Belgium 2024, Kenza Ameloot, joined leading figures in Rwanda’s film industry to inspire students from Mount Kigali University from the Department of Journalism, Film and Communication Studies.

Later the students were taken through discussions on filmmaking, acting, and personal growth, with contributions from prominent actors like Ganza Prince and expert guidance from Director Hakim.

Ngabo Arsene, CEO of Movie People Ltd, delivered a powerful presentation on the art of storytelling, emphasizing intentionality in filmmaking and the importance of visual and emotional depth. He shared a success story of producing a feature film in just eight days, demonstrating how meticulous preparation and resourcefulness can overcome challenges.

Students were encouraged to embrace creativity with limited resources, using smartphones and collaborating to create impactful stories. Director Hakim provided practical acting workshops, while Mr. Okeefe inspired the group with a motivational speech, announcing upcoming filmmaking workshops in Uganda, Tanzania, and Dar es Salaam.

The session left students equipped with essential skills for storytelling and acting, fostering hope and passion for Rwanda’s growing film industry.

The Head of Department, Journalism, Film and Communication, Festus Irungu, said, “At Mount Kigali University, we believe that storytelling through film transcends boundaries and connects humanity. This workshop is a golden opportunity for our students to learn from some of the finest minds in the industry like Ngabo Arsene, a visionary leader in film production, and Kenza Ameloot, Miss Belgium 2024, who exemplifies creativity and global influence. I want to thank Rwanda Film Commission Secretary, Appollo , who has been instrumental in connecting us with this team. Together, we are empowering the next generation of filmmakers to not only master their craft but to tell stories that inspire change and build bridges across the world.”
