“Is it right?”Snoop Dogg shares reaction to LGBT scenes in Children’s movies

In recent years, more children’s cartoons have begun including characters and families that represent the LGBT community. While some praise this as progress toward diversity and inclusion, others believe it introduces sensitive topics too early for young viewers.

One of the most talked-about examples came from Disney-Pixar’s Lightyear (2022) — a film that features a same-sex couple, Alisha Hawthorne and her wife, who raise a child together. The short scene, which shows the two women sharing a kiss and later having a family, sparked global debate and was even banned in some countries.

Among those who reacted was the famous rapper Snoop Dogg, who shared his personal experience after taking his grandson to see the film. During a podcast interview, he recalled how surprised he was when his grandson asked:

“Papa Snoop? How can she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman!”

Snoop admitted he was caught off guard and said,

“Y’all throwing me in the middle of something I don’t have an answer for. These are kids — do we have to show that at this age?”

He later clarified that he wasn’t attacking anyone but was simply confused and unprepared to explain such topics to a six-year-old.

This incident raises important questions: Is it right to introduce LGBT relationships in children’s films? Supporters argue that showing different types of families helps young audiences learn acceptance and respect for others. However, critics worry it might confuse children who are still learning about the world and relationships.

As society continues to evolve, filmmakers and parents alike face the challenge of balancing inclusion with age-appropriate storytelling. Whether one agrees or not, what’s clear is that stories like Lightyear are changing how the next generation sees love, family, and identity.
