A young Rwandan fashion designer, Uwihirwe Aimable, popularly known by his brand “Am Able,” has officially launched his own fashion house, months after his former boss, Twahirwa Moses, faced legal issues related to drug use.
Twahirwa Moses, a well-known figure in Rwanda’s fashion scene, has been arrested multiple times, most recently on April 22, 2025, when the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) detained him on suspicion of illicit drug usage. The news left many in the fashion community shocked, and several of his employees uncertain about their professional future.
After seven months, Aimable decided to take a bold step forward and establish his own company. He said the new brand will focus on creative, modern, and clean Rwandan fashion that inspires young people to believe in themselves.
“I learned a lot while working with Moses. But now it’s time to use my own ideas and bring something fresh to Rwandan fashion,” Aimable said. “I want to show that young people can rise even after challenges.”
Local designers and fashion enthusiasts have praised Aimable for his courage and positive vision. His new line will feature African-inspired clothing, urban wear, and custom designs made from locally sourced materials.

The brand’s official launch event is planned to take place in Kigali later this year. Aimable also expressed his hope to collaborate with both emerging and established designers to further develop Rwanda’s fashion industry.
