General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces and son of Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has extended a heartfelt message of peace and unity to the people of Rwanda as they approach the Kwibohora31 Liberation Day celebrations.
Using his official X (formerly Twitter) account, General Muhoozi welcomed Rwandans to visit Uganda during the upcoming holidays, expressing hope for continued friendship and regional harmony.
“Dear brothers and sisters of Rwanda,
As you approach the holidays and the Kwibohora31 celebrations, I warmly invite you to visit us here in Uganda.
The borders are open, peace prevails. Come and celebrate with your brothers and sisters, visit friends and family, relax and enjoy yourselves in your home country, rising with joy and happiness.
Uganda is yours; feel at home.
I wish you wonderful holidays. May God bless and protect you. 🇺🇬🤝🇷🇼”
The message comes at a time when Rwanda prepares to mark 31 years since the country’s liberation on July 4, 1994. Kwibohora, or Liberation Day, is a national holiday commemorating the end of the Genocide against the Tutsi and the victory of the Rwandan Patriotic Army (RPA), which ushered in peace and a new era of national rebuilding.
