A young boy from Gatsibo District, who was born with a physical disability, has captured the hearts of many after videos showed him skillfully playing football.
Nizeyimana Théoneste, a student at GS Kiramuruzi, became an online sensation when his determination and talent were shared widely on social media. His passion drew attention from football fans across the country, including the Ministry of Sports and the Rwanda Amputee Football Association (RAFA).
On October 31, 2025, RAFA, in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Gatsibo District, visited the boy and donated sports equipment and a wheelchair to support his dream. Efforts are also underway to help him receive a prosthetic leg.
RAFA stated on November 4 that the young footballer will soon be enrolled in a school that can help him grow further in sports. They have also confirmed that Nizeyimana will participate in the Rwandan Paralympic Championship scheduled for November 22 in Kigali.
During the visit, Nizeyimana shared another dream — to watch a game between APR FC and Rayon Sports. RAFA said that his wish will come true this weekend when he attends the famous derby at Amahoro Stadium.
The association thanked all individuals and organizations who stepped forward to support the boy, noting that such actions help empower people with disabilities to showcase their talents.
RAFA continues to organize competitions for amputee football players in Rwanda, with a mission to promote inclusion and create opportunities for people with disabilities in sports.
