Rwanda’s first p factory producing paper cup factory, A-ZF Global Trading, has officially launched its operations, with a production capacity of up to 100,000 cups per day.
The factory unveiled its product line, Ishema Paper Cups, on Thursday, November 6, 2025. The event was attended by government officials, representatives from the Private Sector Federation (PSF), factory staff, and local traders who previously struggled to access paper cups.
The cups, including lids, are biodegradable, providing an eco-friendly alternative to plastic-topped cups that pose risks to both the environment and human health.
CEO Ndayisenga Ismael said the factory produces high-quality cups that meet international standards. “Our cups are sturdy and reliable, unlike some imported ones that easily leak. We will also offer customized branding for businesses and events,” he explained.
The factory aims to increase production to 400,000 cups per day within two years and create employment opportunities, targeting a workforce of 300 as the business grows.
PSF representative Joel Mbabazi noted that the project supports entrepreneurship, job creation, and sustainable business practices. Hugues Kagame, from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, said the factory will reduce import dependence, offer affordable products to the market, and potentially export to neighboring countries, contributing to foreign currency inflows.
The factory reflects the growing trend of private investment in Rwanda, where entrepreneurs are increasingly contributing to economic growth and the development of locally manufactured goods.
