On 13th, July, 2023, Angola’s men’s national team was eliminated from FIBA AfroCan semi-finals after they lost to Rwanda’s men’s basketball national team in a game played at Arena de Kilamba in Luanda-Angola.
Rwanda’s lead in the first quarter of the game is attributed to; Sano, Ntore and Nshobozwa who scored 23 points against Angola’s 19 points.
During the second quarter, Rwanda was still leading Angola with 15-13 points ending the first half with 38-32 points.
There was a vibrant change in the third quarter with Angola leading with 21-13 points however, it was short lived as Rwanda bounced back in the forth quarter thanks to Nshobozwa Jean Wilson who finished the game with 22 points, 9 rebounds, 6 steals and 3 assists.
“I’m  so  delighted  that  we  won  the  match  against  Angola  and  I  can’t  wait  for  us  to  face  Ivory coast  as  we  head  to  the  finals’, stated  Yves  Murenzi, Rwanda’s  coach.
Nsobozwa  Jean  Wilson  the  top  scorer  for  Rwanda  said, “the  game  went  on  well  for  us, despite  losing  in  the  past  games  due  to  our  mistakes  in  rebounds  and  turn  overs, we  tried  to  correct  them  thus  the  win”.
Rwanda is to face Ivory Coast in the semi-finals a match that will determine which team is to play in the final game of FIBA AfroCan 2023.
