With the FERWAFA elections set for August 30, all eyes are on AS Kigali president Fabrice Ngoga Shema, who is running unopposed for the federation’s top job.
Shema is on track to succeed Alphonse Munyatwali as the next president of the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA), a position he is set to hold for the next four years.
A seasoned football executive, Shema has been actively involved in the sport’s administration since 2019, when he took over as president of AS Kigali.
Under his leadership, the club has claimed four major trophies, solidifying his reputation as an effective sports administrator.
However, Shema’s ambitions for Rwandan football go beyond club-level success. He is now aiming to chart a new course for the country’s football development as FERWAFA president, with a vision that emphasizes professionalism, sustainability, and growth across all tiers of the sport.
Outside the pitch, Shema brings a wealth of experience from the business and leadership sectors.
He is the CEO of Africa Medical Supplier Plc, Rwanda’s first publicly listed health company, and also serves as chairman of Gasabo Investment Company Plc.
Academically, he holds a degree in pharmacy and a Master’s in International Business from Oklahoma Christian University in the United States.
His leadership experience extends internationally; he served as Rwanda’s National President of Junior Chamber International (JCI) in 2010 and as JCI International Vice President in 2011.
He remains actively involved in the organization as a lifetime JCI Senator.
With his blend of football management experience, business acumen, and international leadership, Shema is widely expected to bring a new era of professionalism and vision to FERWAFA.
