Democratic Republic of Congo’s Minister of Regional Economic Integration and Cooperation, Floribert Anzuluni, has confirmed that the Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) will take place in Kinshasa on November 15, 2025.
This high-level meeting will be held under the theme: “Promoting Peace, Security, and Sustainable Development in the Great Lakes Region.”
During the summit, the DRC will assume the rotational chairmanship of the ICGLR. Minister Anzuluni said the event will provide an important opportunity for the DRC to strengthen ongoing efforts aimed at restoring peace, especially in the eastern part of the country, where insecurity persists due to armed group,s including the ADF and M23, which it claims are supported by Rwanda.
“The new ICGLR presidency will give our country the opportunity to reinforce initiatives aimed at restoring peace and security in our region and to strengthen cooperation with neighboring countries,” he said.
The ICGLR comprises 12 countries dedicated to peace, regional cooperation, and sustainable development across the Great Lakes region. Its members include the DRC, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, South Sudan, Central African Republic, Angola, Zambia, Sudan, and Ethiopia.
