Chelsea stun PSG to claim Club World Cup title

Chelsea FC has clinched its first-ever FIFA Club World Cup title, delivering a dominant 3-0 victory over European champions Paris Saint-Germain at MetLife Stadium. The “London Blues” showcased a fearless and formidable performance from the outset, asserting their authority over their highly fancied opponents.

The high-profile final attracted significant attention, with U.S. President Donald Trump in attendance alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino, as previously announced.

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea side found their rhythm early, breaking the deadlock in the 22nd minute through a beautifully struck goal by Cole Palmer, putting them ahead 1-0. Palmer, in sensational form, doubled the Londoners’ lead just eight minutes later, in the 30th minute, with an almost identical finish.

Not content with two goals, the unstoppable Palmer then turned provider, assisting new signing Pedro, who netted Chelsea’s third goal, sending the Blues into halftime with a commanding 3-0 lead.

In the second half, Paris Saint-Germain attempted to seize the initiative, but despite their efforts, they failed to seriously threaten the English giant’s goal. Chelsea’s defense remained resolute, thwarting any comeback attempts.

Late in the game, in the 85th minute, PSG’s João Neves was shown a red card after VAR review confirmed he had pulled Marc Cucurella’s hair, reducing the Parisian side to ten men.

The match concluded with a decisive defeat for PSG and a historic triumph for Chelsea. This victory marks a monumental achievement for the club, as Chelsea has now become the first team to have won every major trophy they have competed for.

Individual accolades also followed Chelsea’s success, with Cole Palmer deservingly named the player of the tournament for his outstanding contributions. His teammate, Robert Sanchez, also received recognition, claiming the award for Goalkeeper of the Tournament.
