Bugesera District’s football team, Bugesera FC, has announced that it is not ready to play against Sudanese side Al Hilal Omdurman, a match that was scheduled for Thursday, November 6, 2025.
Through their social media accounts on Tuesday, November 4, Al Hilal Omdurman announced that they would face Bugesera FC in the opening match of the Rwandan Premier League, followed by a second game against AS Kigali on November 10.
Bugesera FC immediately reacted, stating that the announcement was premature and that they were not prepared for the match. In a letter sent to the Rwanda Premier League on Wednesday, November 5, the club clarified that it would not participate in an unexpected game outside its official league schedule. Bugesera FC emphasized that the next scheduled match for the team is against Kiyovu Sports on Sunday, November 9.
The club wrote, “Based on rumors that may be misleading, we wish to notify you that we will not participate in an unscheduled or surprise game outside the official competition calendar. The match we are prepared for is the RPL fixture against Kiyovu Sports on Sunday.”
So far, neither the Rwanda Premier League nor FERWAFA has issued any statement regarding Al Hilal Omdurman’s announcement.
Bugesera FC currently sits in 11th place with six points. In their most recent league match, they were defeated 2-1 by Gorilla FC. The club has confirmed that it will play against Kiyovu Sports as scheduled this Sunday.
