After battling it out with Petro de Luanda on May, 26th, 2023, at BK Arena in Rwanda, Mali’s Stade Malien emerged ‘3rd best basketball team’ in BAL(Basketball Africa) games 2023.
With an overall win of 73-65 against their counterparts, Stade Malien’s win was made possible by Aliou Diarra who scored 25 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assistants.
“I’m very disappointed that we couldn’t make it even in the third place, but this is basketball; some win others lose”, Carlos Morais- Petro de Luanda’s team Captain.
Jose Neto, Petro de Luanda’s coach thanked his players for the great work they did although they couldn’t make it to the finals.
” I’m proud of all my players, I don’t know what happened this year but am happy we made it this far, not every time we have to win”, he stated.
It is the first time for Stade Malien to be among the top three in the Basketball Africa League(BAL) games.
Ahead of the games, AS Dounae’s coach-Mamadou Gueye was crowned ‘coach if the year’ for BAL 2023.
BAL 2023 finals will be played on 27th, May, 2023 at BK Arena, Kigali, Rwanda for the third time in a row.
