The Armée Patriotique Rwandaise Football Club (APR FC) won 2-0 against Zambian league champions Power Dynamos on Sunday at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.
The Rwandan champions controlled most of the game, showing better ball handling and team strategy. Burkina Faso striker Djibril Ouattara stood out as the day’s best performer, scoring two quick goals in the second half.
He scored his first goal in the 49th minute and followed it up with another just three minutes later, at 52 minutes. The game started with both teams trying to prove their champion status, but APR FC soon took charge of the match.
APR FC’s strong performance got a boost from enthusiastic home fans, who turned out in their numbers to support their team.
The game was part of the ongoing “Inkera y’Abahizi” tournament, which features four teams: host APR FC, Police FC (Rwanda), Power Dynamos (Zambia), and Azam FC (Tanzania). The tournament is being played on a round-robin system where the team with the highest point total takes home the trophy.
The tournament will continue this Tuesday, August 19, with Azam FC going head-to-head against Police FC at Kigali Pele Stadium.
