The highly anticipated football friendly between Rwandan and Ugandan veteran players is set to kick off this Saturday morning at Kigali Pele Stadium. This match marks the second encounter between the two sides since 2016, when Rwandan veterans secured a decisive victory.
Murangwa Eugene Eric, President of the Rwanda Amavubi Former Players Association (FAPA), expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming game. “It’s a privilege to play with our friends, the Ugandans, to strengthen the relationship between our two countries,” Murangwa stated, emphasizing football’s unique ability to unite people.

The last time these veteran teams met in 2016, then at the Regional Stadium Nyamirambo (now Kigali Pele Stadium), Rwanda’s former players emerged victorious with a 5-2 win. Key goal-scorers for Rwanda included Kamana Bogota Labama with two goals, alongside strikes from Saidi Abedi Makasi, Karekezi Olivier, and Kamanzi Kharim. Uganda’s two goals were netted by Vincent Kayizi and Philip Ssozi.

Football fans and supporters are invited to attend Saturday’s match, which kicks off at 10:00 a.m. at Kigali Pele Stadium, with free entry for all.
