Amavubi climb three spots in latest FIFA ranking

Rwanda’s national football team, the Amavubi, has moved up three places in the latest FIFA World Ranking, released on Thursday, July 10. The team now stands at 127th globally, a notable improvement from their previous 130th position.

In Africa, the Amavubi are currently ranked 37th, accumulating 1127.36 points. This upward trajectory comes despite recent friendly losses against Algeria, highlighting the dynamic nature of the FIFA ranking system.

The improvement can be attributed to the performance of other nations; many teams previously ranked above Rwanda also experienced defeats or remained inactive during the ranking period, creating an opportunity for the Amavubi to advance.

Within the CECAFA (Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations) zone, Uganda remains the highest-ranked team, sitting at 88th in the world and 19th in Africa.

Globally, the FIFA World Cup defending champions, Argentina, continue to lead the rankings, followed by Spain, France, England, and Brazil, completing the top five.

On the African continent, Morocco holds the top spot, ranked 11th worldwide. They are followed by Senegal (19th globally), Egypt (34th), Algeria (36th), and Nigeria (44th), rounding out Africa’s top five.
