Alicia and Germaine, two sisters from Rubavu District in Rwanda’s Western Province, are rising Gospel artists whose songs continue to touch hearts around the world. Under the guidance of their father, Ufitimana Innocent, known as Papa Innocent, and his music label ABA Music, they have built a strong family partnership rooted in faith, talent, and hard work. Their mother also supports their journey by designing all their performance outfits through her brand, Betty Fashion.
Alicia and Germaine balance school and music with great dedication. Alicia is a third-year Medicine and Surgery student at the University of Rwanda, while Germaine is in her final year of secondary school studying Languages and Literature. Despite their busy schedules, they continue to record and perform Gospel songs that inspire and comfort many.
Within just one year, they have released several songs, including Urufatiro, Rugaba, Uri Yo, Ndahiriwe, Wa Mugabo, and Ihumure. Their music has reached audiences not only in Rwanda but also in countries such as Burundi, Kenya, Uganda, the United States, Belgium, and Canada. Fans often share how their songs have brought hope and peace into their lives.
One of their most successful songs, Uri Yo, has gained over 653,000 views on YouTube in four months. Among its many listeners is poet Ira Badena, who said the song helped him heal emotionally and spiritually after surviving a serious accident. Such stories encourage the sisters to keep creating songs that strengthen people’s faith.
Alicia and Germaine also write most of their own songs and compose for other artists in Rwanda and abroad. They describe songwriting as both a passion and a blessing from God. Although Uri Yo was written by Niyo Bosco, the sisters contributed ideas that helped shape the song’s message and melody.
In May 2025, they were awarded Best Gospel Artist in Rwanda’s Western Province during the Rubavu Music Awards & Talent Detection event. Their father and manager, Papa Innocent, expressed pride in their success, saying that managing their careers has helped him grow as a music mentor and strengthened his ABA Music Band, which performs at different events across the province.
Among all their songs, Rugaba has received the highest views, over 732,000 on YouTube. Their work continues to attract a growing number of fans who admire their faith and dedication.
Alicia and Germaine often say that prayer is the foundation of their success. They draw inspiration from the Bible verse Job 8:7, which reminds them that small beginnings can lead to great achievements. Looking ahead, they plan to record songs in international languages to reach more listeners worldwide.
