Police Football Club has been one of the most intriguing stories in Rwandan football for more than two decades. Founded in 2000 by the Rwanda National Police, the club began life in the lower divisions as a way to promote sporting outreach among officers and civilians alike. They quickly earned promotion by winning the second division in 2003, marking the start of their long campaign in the top flight.
Despite being a consistent presence in the Rwanda Premier League since the early 2000s, Police FC have never won the league title. They have come close a handful of times finishing as leaguerunners-up in 2011 and 2012 but the elusive championship trophy has remained out of reach.
However, silverware isn’t entirely absent from their cabinet. The club has enjoyed success in cup competitions, including winning the Rwanda Peace Cup in 2024 after beating Bugesera Fc 2-1 at Kigali pele stadium and Heroes Cup in 2024 after beating APR FC, and more recently the SuperCup highlighting their ability to perform on big occasions even without league glory.
Coming into the 2025-26 season, Police FC find themselves in an enviable position. They are at second position on Rwanda premier league table with 34 points, showing consistency and resilience that has fans and pundits talking seriously about a title challenge.
At the heart of this optimism is head coach Ben Moussa, whose ambition has been clear since he arrived. Moussa has openly stated that he didn’t come to Police FC to just compete he came to win trophies, including the league title. Drawing on his previous success in Rwandan football, he has implored his squad to change their mindset from mid-table contenders to championship winners. “Nothing is for free,” Moussa said recently about the club’s lofty ambitions. He stressed the importance of focus, hard work, and unity if Police FC are to make history by claiming their first Premier League crown
Team leaders and senior players have echoed that sentiment, emphasizing collective effort and belief as key ingredients for success. The message inside the dressing room is clear: everyone must be committed, both physically and mentally, to achieve something no Police FC side has before.
Police Fc added four new signings in club including Ezeh Issac, Ismael Pitchou Nshimirimana, Jean De Dieu Udahemuka and Prince Rudasingwa designed to strengthen the squad depth and bring fresh quality in crucial areas.
