Rayon Sports’ struggles continued after a frustrating 2–2 draw against Sudanese side Al Merrikh at Kigali Pelé Stadium on January 21, 2026, a result that felt more like a loss to many Gikundiro supporters.
Once again, fans did not hide their disappointment. Voices from the stands and on social media revealed growing frustration, with many supporters accusing head coach Bruno Ferry of steering the club in the wrong direction. Some fans believe the coach is prioritizing giving playing time to new signings players they claim he personally brought into the club at the expense of team balance and results.
Beyond coaching concerns, attention has also turned to the club’s leadership. Abdallah Murenzi, who rejoined Rayon Sports on November 25, 2025, was appointed to head a five-member interim committee after the Rwanda Governance Board dissolved the previous leadership led by Thaddée Twagirayezu. Upon his return, Murenzi delivered bold promises to supporters.
“Rayon Sports is going to win all domestic trophies the league, the cup, and the Peace Cup. The club will sign new Rwandan players, and in the coming days, we are going to buy a bus for the club,” he said.
However, results on the pitch have yet to reflect those ambitions. Under Bruno Ferry’s leadership, Rayon Sports has recorded some of its worst statistics in recent seasons. In five matches managed by the coach, the team has won once, drawn twice, and lost twice, conceding 11 goals while scoring only six.
During the 2025/2026 season, Rayon Sports signed 16 new players, but instability has followed, with several players and members of the technical staff already parting ways with the club. The constant changes have disrupted team cohesion, leaving fans worried about the club’s direction.
