The Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda, Gao Wenqi, accompanied by his delegation, visited the Environmental Heritage Museum, located in Karongi District.
The purpose of the visit was to explore the museum’s activities and understand its contribution to environmental education and awareness on climate change.
The museum focuses on Rwanda’s natural heritage and the environment, showcasing how humans and nature have coexisted throughout history and emphasizing the critical role the environment plays in the lives of Rwandans.
Ambassador Gao Wenqi praised the museum’s efforts in raising public awareness, especially among urban residents, about the importance of protecting the environment and understanding the effects of air pollution.
“It is essential for everyone to recognize the value of the environment in our daily lives. China will continue to cooperate with Rwanda in supporting this museum through the use of modern technology,” he said.
During the visit, Ambassador Gao Wenqi and his delegation toured the museum’s rooftop garden, where indigenous Rwandan medicinal plants are cultivated.
The Environmental Heritage Museum is the first of its kind in Africa, dedicated to showcasing the conservation of renewable and non-renewable energy sources, biodiversity, and Rwanda’s rich plant life.
