Poet Ruga Trigger announces new poetry album dedicated to his Lover

Rwandan poet Rugamba, widely known by his stage name Ruga Trigger, has announced his upcoming poetry album titled “UN Rumuri,” a deeply personal project dedicated to his lover, who, he says, transformed his view on love and life.

Ruga revealed that the album’s title draws inspiration from his partner’s full name, with the initials “UN” taken from it. He explained that he used abbreviations to protect her privacy, as she prefers to remain out of the public spotlight.

Speaking to Imvaho Nshya, the poet shared that meeting his girlfriend at the end of 2024 inspired him to create his first album in her honor, emphasizing that she brought “light and authenticity” into his world.

“I used to write poems about everyday life, mostly about love that didn’t work out, because that’s what I was experiencing,” he said. “When I met her, everything changed. She didn’t pressure me to be someone I’m not—she helped me grow into my true self. Often, men pretend just to please women, but she helped me fill the gaps within myself.”

The 12-track album will feature 11 poems available to the public and one private piece titled “Nyumva Wumvire” (“Listen and Understand”), which he wrote about his lover’s personal experiences but chose to keep unpublished.

According to Ruga Trigger, 10 out of the 11 public poems have already been released, with the final poem, “Rumuri,” set to drop in December 2025, officially completing the album.

The poet also expressed appreciation for producer R1 Go Crazy, praising his dedication and creativity, noting that he has worked on every track from start to finish.

Currently, Ruga Trigger is signed under LEAF Global Art, a creative collective supporting artists and dancers. His album has been produced at One Mic Studio, which operates under the same collective.
