Police FC have claimed the title in the inaugural Inkera y’Abahizi tournament after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over AS Kigali in the final match held at Amahoro Stadium.
The game ended 0-0 in regular time despite numerous chances from both sides. Police FC held their nerve in the shootout, winning 5-3 on penalty shootout to secure the trophy and a promising start ahead of the 2025/26 Rwanda Premier League season.
The four-team tournament featured hosts Police FC, AS Kigali, Tanzanian giants Azam FC, and Rwanda Premier League reigning champions APR FC. Police FC topped the standings thanks to their superior scoring record throughout the competition.
As champions, Police FC received a prize of Rwf5 million. Azam FC finished runners-up after defeating APR FC 2-0 on the final day and took home Rwf2 million. AS Kigali settled for third place, while APR FC endured a disappointing campaign, finishing bottom without a single point.
