Tanzanian football powerhouse Young Africans SC (Yanga) has officially appointed Romain Folz, a highly rated French coach, as its new head coach for the upcoming 2025–2026 season. This significant announcement comes just weeks before the club is set to face Rayon Sports in a highly anticipated Rayon Day friendly match.
Folz, 35, is a well-known figure in African football circles, having most recently served as the assistant coach at Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa. He brings with him a strong coaching pedigree, holding both UEFA Pro and CONMEBOL Pro licenses qualifications which place him among the top tier of modern football coaches globally.
Yanga SC confirmed that Folz will be entrusted with the responsibility of leading the club to new heights, both in the Tanzanian Premier League and on the continental stage, particularly in CAF competitions.
He replaces Miloud Hamid, the Algerian-French manager whose contract was not extended at the end of last season, signaling a new strategic direction for the Tanzanian champions.
