APR FC secures Ugandan midfielder Ronald Ssekiganda

Rwandan football giants APR FC have officially announced the signing of highly-rated Ugandan midfielder Ronald Ssekiganda from Villa SC on a two-year contract, effective Thursday, July 10, 2025. The move sees the 21-year-old central midfielder join the “Army Team” as they prepare for a challenging domestic and continental campaign.

The announcement, made via APR FC’s official social media platforms, confirms one of the most anticipated transfers in the Rwandan Premier League. Ssekiganda arrives in Kigali following a standout season in the Uganda Premier League, where his consistent performances earned him a spot among the top 11 players for the 2024/25 campaign.

The transfer, which APR FC had been actively pursuing for some time, experienced a brief delay due to Ssekiganda’s crucial commitments with the Uganda National Team, the Uganda Cranes. His involvement in national team duties, particularly ahead of the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024), temporarily postponed the finalization of his contract with the Rwandan champions.

With the CHAN 2024 tournament dates potentially clashing with the commencement of Rwanda’s domestic league season, APR FC prioritized his immediate integration into the squad. The club’s swift action ensures Ssekiganda can join his new teammates promptly to begin pre-season preparations, minimizing any disruption to their readiness for the new season.

Ssekiganda’s arrival is a significant boost for APR FC, who are not only defending their domestic title but also aiming for deep runs in all competitions, most notably the prestigious CAF Champions League. His dynamism, vision, and midfield prowess are expected to be crucial assets as the club seeks to make a more substantial mark on the continental stage.
