Christian Nørgaard close to joining Arsenal as Partey’s replacement

Arsenal FC has reportedly agreed a deal to sign Danish midfielder Christian Nørgaard from Brentford for £15 million, following unsuccessful talks with current midfielder Thomas Partey.

Thomas Partey, who joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in 2020 for a fee of £45 million, appears to be on his way out of the Gunners.

After many discussions between the Ghanaian midfielder and the club, it seems they could not reach a mutually agreeable decision. Partey has reportedly confirmed that he cannot continue with the team and is expected to leave Arsenal at the end of June.

Following the decision to let Partey go, Arsenal has been actively seeking a replacement. Christian Nørgaard, the 31-year-old Denmark international, has emerged as a prime candidate to fill Partey’s role, with a reported agreement of £15 million according to Fabrizio Romano.

Notably, several big clubs in the Premier League are now looking to acquire players from Brentford, particularly after the departure of Thomas Frank, who has reportedly taken on the role of manager at Tottenham Hotspur.
