An accident involving a motorcycle and a lorry occurred this morning on Gisozi Road (poids lourd), causing a major traffic jam during rush hour and raising concerns about road safety and infrastructure in the area.
According to eyewitnesses, the motorcycle was coming from the Nyabugogo direction, while the lorry was heading from the opposite side. The two vehicles collided head-on, leaving the motorcyclist and their passenger with serious injuries.
Ambulance services arrived quickly and began giving first aid to the injured, who were lying on the road. Police also responded promptly to manage traffic and begin an investigation into what caused the accident.
The crash happened at a busy time of day, leading to heavy traffic that delayed workers, students, and other road users. Many residents shared their frustration about the frequent traffic jams and the poor condition of the road.
“This road is too narrow for all these vehicles, especially heavy trucks,” said one commuter. “We use it every day, and it’s dangerous. The government must do something before more serious accidents happen.”
Gisozi Road is one of the busiest roads in the city, with motorcycles, buses, cars, and heavy trucks using it daily. Locals are now urging authorities to widen and improve the road to ensure safety and reduce traffic congestion.
Fortunately, no deaths were reported, but the injured victims were taken to the hospital for further treatment. Investigations into the exact cause of the accident are still ongoing.
