In an effort to promote community engagement through basketball, the President of Rwanda H.E Paul Kagame on May, 27th, 2023 inaugurated Kimironko basketball court.
The facility is aimed at providing the younger generation with more opportunities to develop their basketball skills while fostering a sense of community belonging.
In his speech, the President expressed his gratitude to all partners that were involved in the making the court a reality.
He further stressed the importance of community involvement, emphasizing collective responsibility to preserve, maintain and care for such facilities.
Amadou Gallo Fall-BAL president, acknowledged Rwanda’s unwavering support for the basketball project and highlighted the commitment of BAL(Basketball Africa League) to elevate the position of Africa in sports.
“The reason for building courts is to provide young talent with an opportunity to nurture and develop their skills. The basketball court in Kimironko is not the only one we are to build, more for volleyball and foot ball are to be unveiled soon”, said Aurore Mimosa the minister for sports in Rwanda.
Kimironko basketball symbolizes the commitment of Rwanda and BAL in providing a platform to young people to excel in basketball and nurture a strong spirit.
