The Rwandan music industry is in mourning following the heartbreaking loss of the mother of beloved music sensation Chriss Eazy. She passed away in the early hours of June 13 at a hospital in Nyarugenge District, Kigali, after several days of illness.
The devastating news was confirmed by Chriss Eazy’s manager and close confidant, Junior Giti, who revealed that the artist’s mother had shown signs of recovery the night before her passing.
“She had been unwell for several days,” said Giti. “Just last night, we spoke with her, and she even told us she felt better and expected to be discharged this morning. We were shocked to wake up to the news of her passing.”
Chriss Eazy, known for his chart-topping hits and vibrant presence in Rwanda’s entertainment industry, has shared a powerful and emotional tribute to his late mother.
“You were my first answered prayer, sweetheart, my best friend, my safest place, my forever love. Rest easy Mum. Heaven gained an angel, but I lost my home. I carry your love in every breath, Maman,” wrote the artist on social media, expressing his sorrow to millions of followers.

In recent weeks, Chriss Eazy had begun appearing in YouTube videos with his mother, opening up intimate conversations about his childhood, their bond, and her pivotal role in his life and career. These videos offered fans a rare glimpse into the family behind the fame.
In one particularly heartfelt moment, his mother recalled the day Chriss was born, describing how he entered the world frail and hungry but with a defiant spirit.
“You were born with severe hunger. The doctors rushed you to special machines, but even as a baby, you resisted. One doctor said, ‘This child may be born hungry, but he has the strength of a warrior,’” she said.
She also revealed her deep affection for Chriss Eazy’s song “Inana”, calling it her personal favorite. Fortunately, she lived to see her son rise to national stardom, fulfilling the dreams he had once only imagined.
