Security and stability continue to be the most valued aspects of governance among Rwandans, according to the latest findings from the Rwanda Governance Board (RGB). However, satisfaction in this area has slightly declined from 75.79% to 71.73%, while the governance and economic pillar scored 74.84%.
RGB CEO Dr. Doris Picard Uwicyeza said the report reflects Rwanda’s ongoing commitment to promoting good governance and delivering high-quality, inclusive public services. “Since this program was launched, it has become a reliable mechanism for assessing Rwanda’s policies and monitoring governance performance across different pillars,” she noted.
Dr. Uwicyeza emphasized that the findings reinforce Rwanda’s determination to implement evidence-based policies aligned with the National Strategy for Transformation II (NST2) and Vision 2050. She added, “This reminds us that although Rwanda’s governance performance remains among the highest in Africa, we must translate it into tangible results that improve citizens’ daily lives.”
The report also recognized the role of leadership, with Dr. Uwicyeza expressing gratitude to President Paul Kagame for his consistent dedication to advancing the well-being of Rwandans.
UNDP Resident Representative Fatmata Lovetta Sesay praised Rwanda’s 15-year track record of using credible data to inform governance and policy decisions. “Governance data goes beyond numbers. It is a powerful tool for evidence-based decision-making, policy dialogue, and accountability. It forms the foundation for inclusive and sustainable development,” she said.
Sesay further commended RGB for producing comprehensive reports that shed light on the nation’s governance landscape, affirming UNDP’s continued partnership with Rwanda to promote transparent, citizen-centered, and sustainable governance.
