On the night of October 29–30, 2025, in Muhanga District, Mbare Cell, Shyogwe Sector, in a joint operation with local residents and government authorities, the Police arrested a group of eight (8) men suspected of criminal activities that threatened the security and peace of residents.
According to the spokesperson of the Rwanda Police in the Southern Province, CIP Hassan Kamanzi, the suspects are believed to have engaged in crimes including theft and the use of illegal drugs such as cannabis. After consuming drugs, they allegedly ambushed residents to rob them of their belongings.
The Police have urged anyone still involved in such criminal behavior to stop, emphasizing that theft is not a profession but a punishable offense under the law. Residents are encouraged to engage in legal activities that contribute to their development instead.
CIP Hassan Kamanzi told intyoza.com that all suspects are being held at Nyamabuye Police Station while the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) continues investigating the alleged crimes before they are brought to justice.
The Police spokesperson also reminded the public that law enforcement will never tolerate criminal behavior, and anyone caught will face legal consequences without exception.
