Rwandan sensation Kaya Byinshi to perform at Sauti za Busara 2026 in Zanzibar

Rwandan music sensation Kaya Byinshi is set to take her place among Africa’s elite at the celebrated Sauti za Busara 2026 in Zanzibar, marking a significant milestone for Rwandan music on the international stage.

Known for hits like “Ibyejo” featuring Bushali and “Mana y’i Rwanda”, Kaya Byinshi is the only Rwandan artist included in this year’s lineup, sharing the stage with continental legends such as Salif Keita, widely regarded as the “Golden Voice of Africa,” and Tanzanian superstar Ben Pol, famous for “Nobody.”

For Kaya, the invitation represents more than personal achievement—it is a reflection of Rwanda’s growing influence in African music. Her selection follows that of Boukuru, who represented Rwanda at the 2025 edition, demonstrating the country’s continued presence at Africa’s premier music festival.

The 23rd edition of Sauti za Busara embraces the theme “African Music under African Skies” and will feature over 25 artists, including Salif Keita (Mali), Ben Pol (Tanzania), Pilani Bubu (South Africa), Sousou & Maher Cissoko (Senegal/Sweden), Man Fongo (Tanzania), and Rajab Suleiman & Kithara (Zanzibar). The festival promises a celebration of African culture through performances, workshops, and discussions aimed at advancing the region’s entertainment industry.

Kaya Byinshi is also a vocal advocate for youth and women in Rwandan music, joining a growing number of female artists making waves internationally, including Boukuru, Sherrie Silver, Butera Knowless, and Alyn Sano. Her participation underscores Rwanda’s potential to contribute meaningfully to Africa’s music landscape, particularly in East Africa.

Sauti za Busara 2026 anticipates record-breaking attendance, drawing artists from over 20 countries. The festival celebrates the synergy between music and African cultural heritage, offering audiences an unforgettable experience under the banner of “African Music under African Skies.”
