International choreographer and actress Sherrie Silver has announced plans to build a state-of-the-art performing arts center that will serve as the main hub for her organization, the Sherrie Silver Foundation. Preparations are already underway, with the intention of completing the project within the next three years.
She announced on Monday, October 27, 2025, while speaking to the media about her upcoming event, “The Silver Gala,” scheduled for Saturday, November 1, 2025, at BK Arena. This will be the second edition of the gala, following a successful first event held in 2024 at the Kigali Convention Center. Sherrie said her participation in international events, such as the Met Gala, inspired her to create a platform that combines entertainment with charity, raising funds to support underprivileged children through her foundation.
To bring this year’s gala to life, Sherrie has partnered with artists including Butera Knowless, Massamba Intore, Juno Kizigenza, Chriss Eazy, Ross Kana, Chella, and others. The live show is expected to attract thousands of attendees and will also be broadcast on Trace TV.
Speaking about her long-term vision, Sherrie emphasized the importance of a permanent home for her foundation. “My goal is that within the next three years, we will have completed our own facility, because we truly need it. We are confident that we’ll find great partners to make this dream a reality,” she said.
The construction is expected to cost between $20 million and $22 million (approximately RWF 29 billion), depending on progress. “Of course, it’s something we’ll build in phases. We could spend less, but we want to create something truly exceptional—something that everyone will be proud of,” she explained.
Sherrie also confirmed that the search for suitable land for the project has already begun. The announcement follows a visit from Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Olivier Nduhungirehe, on September 14, 2025, during which he encouraged young artists to dream big and remain committed to turning their visions into reality.
The planned performing arts center will provide children and youth involved in the foundation with a creative space for dance, music, festivals, and artistic training. The facility will offer opportunities to learn, rehearse, and showcase their talents, helping to elevate Rwandan art and creativity on the international stage.
