“I wish I could’ve been with my incredible cast and filmmakers at Cannes,” Evans wrote on his Instagram story. “But it was my mother’s 70th birthday — and there are some things you just can’t miss!”

According to People magazine, Evans stayed in Boston to celebrate his mother Lisa Evans’s milestone birthday with family and close friends. A source told People, “Chris is very close to his family and didn’t want to miss this special day — it shows his true character.”
