Israeli scholar Prof. Dina Porat deliver a public lecture at MKU

Tel Aviv University Professor Dina Porat delivered a public lecture at Mount Kigali University, Kigali Campus on a public lecture themed, What is Holocaust? Holocaust comparison with the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

The public lecture aimed to sensitize the youth about genocide and discuss the ways to mitigate genocide.

Prof Porat said, ” There are a lot of similarities between the holocaust and the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. I am here to address you on the history of the genocide and ways to avoid it happening again.”

Prof. Porat was accompanied by the Israel Ambassador, His Excellency Dr. Ron Adam who reminded the participant of the horrific past that Rwanda and Israel share and its the duty of the young generation to avoid the ideologies of division, hate, and extremism.

Ambassador Ron is a second-generation Holocaust survivor, who understands how it feels to be in such a situation.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor APIA, Dr. John Nyirigira who welcomed the Israel delegation, said, “It’s an honour to improve the relationship between MKU and Tel Aviv University. We are honoured to host Prof. Porat to address the issue of the Holocaust and compare what happened to the Jews and here in Rwanda in 1994 “
