Create long-lasting relationships:Mentors to BAL4her players

On May, 24th, 2023 at Umusambi Village in Kigali, over 50 young women in the sports field went through mentorship from over 15 professionals in the industry.

With the main focus on personal leadership, women empowerment and building a career in sports, the workshop was moderated in a panel and group discussion mode.

Key names in the Basketball field like: Jamad Fin-athlete and founder of ‘Jamad Basketball camp’, Clarisse Machanguana-WNBA legend and president:’Clarisse Machaguana Foundation’, Yacine Diop Djibo- founder and executive director ‘Speak up Africa’ and Usher Komugisha-BAL commentator graced the workshop.

Speaking to the mentees, Clarisse Machanguana advised the players to get out of their comfort zones and show the world what they’re capable of.

“No one will come to say you to tell you what you should and shouldn’t do, youve got to go out there, meet people, greet them and tell them who you are and what you do. That’s how relationships start”, she told them.


BAL president Amadou Fall on the other hand told the mentees to work very hard and watch out for their careers.

“BAL’s goal is to put African players to another level as well as bring spectrum in the peoples, we can only do this if we work hard, only then can we achieve more”, he stretched.
