Clube Atletico Petroleos de Luanda (PET) from Angola were on May, 24th, 2023 eliminated from the Basketball Africa League (BAL) 2023 semifinals after they lost to Association Sportive des Douanes (ASD) from Senegal 92-82 in a game played at BK Arena in Kigali.
With 14 points, Jacques Boissy helped AS Dounes to lead the first quarter of the game with 49-45 points despite it being ‘tough’ for both sides.
By the third quarter, AS Douane was still leading Petro de Luanda with 58-53 points.
No matter how Petro de Luanda tried in the forth quarter, it was still hard for them to catch AS Douanes who had Jean Jacques who finished the game with 28 points and 3 rebounds.
“I’m very happy and super proud of myself, I want to score and defend my team even in the final games”, said Jean Jacques of AS Douane who went ahead to attribute his success at pitch to watching his past games and learning from them.
Losing for the first time since the games kicked off, Petro de Luanda is still optimistic about future games.
“Although we didn’t reach the finals, we did our best and we will still do ad we play for the 3rd place”, said their coach-Jose Neto.
AS Douane’s coach Mamadou Gueye on the other hand said, “I believed in my players and I knew we can make it, what I have to do now is to motivate them so that we win the finals”.
